Last posting for a while

Hello everyone, I would just like to say goodbye for a while, it's been good being in a community of bloggers, the daily rate of hits to my webpage has increased by a factor of roughly 10 times in the 2 months that I've been with the group. I've decided to stop because of the issue of money, postage from here in New Zealand to overseas is quite expensive, and as those of you who are following my blog will know, money is the thing that will control my weight loss - as I save up for my camera. Anyway, I'll join up again when I'm more financially stable.

For those who have been blogging and reading weight loss blogs for a while now, you will know that it's not very common for someone to actually reach their goal on a blog, so I'll refer you to Melodee at The Amazing Shrinking Mom. She has consistantly lost weight (with a few slowdowns over new year) and is only 10 pounds away from her short term goal of 160 pounds, she's lost 56 pounds so far in the 11 months that she's been losing weight.

Anyway, good luck with your weight loss and I'm sure I'll be returning to the group later on in the year.

John.

Mojo Comments Challenge

Hey everyone!

Hope everybody is doing a bang up job on their "March" challenge.

I've been reading the blogs and looks like a few of us are having some problems getting motivated to break the sugarcrack addiction or getting out there and moving it.

For the next few days, pop over to a couple blogs that you have NOT left a comment for and leave them some positive mojo.

Everyone loves to get comments (well, I know it helps me out!) and more so when they are motivational or just a note saying they are thought of.

Let's share the mojo love people!
I'm off to do my part.

Great Words To Remember....

I came across this in Amber's blog... and I just HAD to share it..

The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called God, you will make it to the place called Success.

Going off sugar and other foods

Hello all, I'm 5 days into going off sugar, flour and fried food. It's going really well, I went 24 days late last year until I had to go to a social engagement, so I expect something similar to happen this time. Anyway, I was wondering if other people wanted to join me in writing about going off specific foods (say sugar plus other foods if desired) on their blog and how it's going. Please post here to say you're going off and I'll make a note to watch your blog closely.

You can read about my previous experience on my blog, just scroll down to October 25th last year.

Best luck to all of you.

John

Hello and Happy March!

Hello everyone! Happy March! I love March because it brings so many things, spring, warmer weather, my birthday (heehee) and it means summer is getting closer!!

I wanted to introduce myself to all of the newbies, my name is Carrie and I live in Baltimore and am on a quest to get in better shape and lose weight in the process. For March I have started a new challenge for myself Body-for-Life for Women you can read more about it here. And welcome back to all of the returning Challengers!

For my March goals I would like to:
- Drink 10 Glasses of Water a Day
-Get to the gym or workout 6 days a week
-Lose or Maintain my weight every week (thanks Jeannie for this idea!)
-To complete the Baltimore Stadium Trek (click here if you'd like to sponsor me! --Carrie Dallhoff)

Also I am continuing with my Lenten Challenge of no pizza or french fries. I am 13 days in and going strong...only 27 more days to go!!

March is bringing 31 days of hard work...24 days of going to the gym...and a wedding shower, bachelorette party, St. Patty's day and birthday in between there somewhere. (which is why going to the gym 6 days a week is a MUST)

Here is to a great month everyone!! Keep going strong!!

It's Tamara

Hey everyone!

Glad to see so many of us come back for the 3rd month of the challenge. It's been really great for me to post my good and BAD days and get support and feedback from all of you.

I am at LifeWithPolo and while I am very physically active, I have a HUGE sweet tooth and love cookies. Anything with "SugarCrack" in it actually!

My march goals were to.....

1) Swim 3x/week
2) Walk to work 2 or 3x/week
3) Continue eating healthy and wise as per the 40 day Lent Challenge. And um, it's hard!

Best of luck to everyone! Can't wait to check out the newbie's blogs.

My March Partner is........www.amethystrunning.blogspot.com So go check her blog out!

March Excitement

Excited to be back and met one of the first goals I had set in the very beginning. When I started on 12.27.06 I set a goal that on 2.28.07 when I flew to New Orleans the seat belt on the plane would buckle and it DID!!!! With a finger to spare even. That was very exciting and am not going to come up with a goal for June when I go to Dallas. By the way, New Orleans is not vegetarian friendly....

Cheers,

Judi

Hello from Fatinah

Hello fellow March Challengers. I'm back!

This month, for my challenge, I have chosen to write what I bite (I'm tracking everything in FitDay) and drink two glasses of water per day. So far so good.

The reason I'm participating in challenges this year is to provide a good roll model for my lovely, impressionable teenage daughter.

This month my cheerleader is Amy. Her blog is new to me, so I'm quite excited to be getting to know someone new!

One change since my participation in January is that I've switched my blog to blogger. My new address is:

http://fatinah.blogspot.com/

If you haven't already done so, perhaps you can update your favourites now???

Best of luck to everyone particpating in the March Challenge!

Welcome All!

I'm so glad to see so many of the challengers back for March, and I'm thrilled to see the new names. The year has just flown by with this challenge, even if the weight is only now starting to go!

I'm Cory, and you can find out all kinds of stuff about me at The Dragon's Loss. I started half-assed trying to lose weigh last summer, but have really started hitting it hard this year. I'm doing Weight Watchers to help keep me in control, but what I'm really focusing on right now is Biggest Winners, a program going on at work/school right now. I've lost an amazing 13 pounds in the four weeks of the program so far. I just need to keep it going until the end, and then beyond!

I live in Hattiesburg, Mississipi, USA and work and go to school at The University of Southern Mississippi. It's something that I'm really proud of. I dropped out of college my Sophmore year, but I haven't let that get in the way of my degree. Right now, if everything goes well, I'll get my bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems in 2012. It might take me a while, but I'll have a great work history to go along with that degree. How many college graduates can say that (AND have no student loans!)

My goal towards weight loss really has less to do with the weight than with other things. Like being fit, and living longer, and having clothes to wear since none of mine fit anymore.

For March, my goal is simply to stay on program on the weekends. That's when I have trouble. I just let go then, and eat whatever and don't do anything. I do fantastic during the week, but it's easy to destroy those efforts in two days. I have to learn how to keep in control during the obstacles that weekends always bring along.

I also want to say a huge hello to my March Cheerleader, Janice. I've haven't gotten to read much of her blog ThinkSlim but she has some fantastic posts over there.

Question for the ladies ...

I don't mean to specifically exclude Galen and John, you read on and you'll see why ...

When you're at your heavy-TOM days, what workouts do you like to do?

TMI WARNING!!!

I love my Biggest Loser DVDs but they're so full of lunges, something I have no intention of doing right now! I love my Pilates and Yoga DVDs but there are poses you shouldn't do during TOM. So other than walking - it's 14 degrees out there, what else can I do? I no longer belong to a gym, so I can't do the treadmill/elliptical, etc.

What's a girl to do?

Michelle's March Challenge

There's something about the beginning of a new month - everything seems so much more do-able and promising and full of hope!

Here are my challenges for March:
  1. Blog at least 5x a week. I've missed blogging, and realized just how much it helped to keep me on track.
  2. Work on my posture!! I have HORRIBLE posture, both standing and sitting, and it's really a pain in the neck (pun intended). I'm going to focus on strengthening my core this month, and really keep reminding myself to sit/stand straight. My friend went to the Dancing with the Stars tour, and she said one of the amateur dances also had to work on her posture, so she would walk/sit all day with a book on her head! I may not go that extreme (all day), but will definitely try it here and there. I've also heard standing tall makes you look 10lbs thinner! ;)
  3. Dance every day! My friend's mom passed away last month, and both my friend and mom loved to dance - hula in particular. On her mother's Memorial card, there was a quote at the end that said "Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we should dance." I'm taking that to heart and will dance hula every day. Just for fun, and because I love how it makes me feel!

I wish everyone a successful March!! Keep up the great work!!

Hello from Scotland

Hi to everyone on the March challenge,

My name is Janice and I'm a weight loss coach so you'd think I could just motivate myself, but really I could do with some support too - not to lose weight (though I'd be happy to lose a couple of pounds anyway if it happens) but to get fitter.

I accepted a challenge to run in a 5k charity race in May so I've just started a program which is called something like couch potato to 5K in 2 months - I found it online. If anyone is interested I'll look up the program again - it really is for beginners.

Honestly, I should listen to my own advice sometimes because I'm always telling people to find an activity that they love - and here I am - running - an activity which i don't like!

I have done 2 weeks so far and i want to make sure i keep it up - despite the (sometimes) howling gales, cold and rain which is what we call spring here :) Anyway it has been reasonably easy so far with no more than 90 seconds of running at a time this week interspersed with 2 minute brisk walks.

Getting myself in my gear and out the front door has been the hardest part - once I'm out it's not too bad and coming back home I feel great.

Other goals for the month

Drink more water (at least 4 glasses a day - I know I'm supposed to have 8 but 4 is a start)
Plan meals in advance before i go shopping so I don't get to 5p.m. and wonder what's for dinner

Looking forward to hearing all your progress not sure how thsi all works yet...

Janice

Let's Do This!

Hey everyone, who's psyched to start another month!? I know I am!

I'm a 21 yer old student trying to get a grip on my life before things get out of control. The first step for me was finally addressing my body issues and doing something about them instead of ignoreing them and hopeing they would go away. So far I'm doing pretty awesome and have found this challenge to be an immense help.

My march challenge is to use my stability ball every day and continue on with the Couch to 5K running program (which will be especially hard the second week in March since I'll be vacationing in Spain with friends). My 40 day challenge is to start getting up earlier (ideally 8:00) and I have to say I'm doing very well with that.

I can't wait to get to know the new folks - welcome! - I'm sure you'll find you've joined a very friendly and helpful challenge. I, personally, have never experienced support like the great folks here offer.

Welcome Back

Hi Everyone!!! I want to say welcome back to everyone that has participated in the January and February challenges and Hello to our newest members. If you want to get to know me better you can read my 100 Things about me post that I wrote last July. I am a 28 year old married mother of one. I have been overweight most of my life and I am ready to take control of my body and my health. My goal for March sounds simple but it isn't going to be for me. I can only weigh in once a week. I am a total scale ho. I weigh several times every morning. But for the next month I can only weigh in every Friday morning. I want to wish everyone good luck on there goals and I can't wait to find out who my partner is.
