An End, And A BeginningFor all of here at the Challenge it is time to, in a way, end one thing and begin another. We have begun some good habits in January, and it is the end of that challenge. It's time to begin anew, but hopefully without leaving our lessons and accomplishments behind us.
No matter what your challenge was in January, you all worked so hard to make it through. We all had trouble making our goals, but we are still here. I think the most important lesson we all have learned is that we can't give up, even if we don't feel motivated at the moment to keep going. February will bring along new challenges, and for some the contiunation of their last challenge. This month may be harder for some of us, or easier for others. But we will all make it through.
For all our new Challengers in February, welcome to our little community. We're all here for the same reason, and with each others help, we will all succeed this year!!! Come and make 2007 YOUR YEAR!

I am totally in for February and I really struggled with what to set as a goal. The fact that I didn't reach my January goal really bugged me. I decided that I don't want to give up on it. I can imagine what it would feel like to actually complete such a large number of steps and so I have decided to repeat my challenge with a bit of modification. Instead of aiming for 7500 steps per day, I have set a goal for the entire month of February: 196,000 steps!! This may seem like a huge number, but it is actually only 7000 steps per day. I think that this way, I can feel okay about taking a Sunday off to relax and just make up the steps during the week.
I am really looking forward to another great month!!

SorrySorry that I have been AWOL! January has been a hectic month for me with starting back at university and many other commitments and somewhere among it all I got sidetracked in my healthy lifestlye and I FEEL awful for it. I know I have put on a few pounsd because my clothes feel uncomfortable and my body certainly is noticing the lack of exercise. SO it's time to get back on track which and I've certainly picked a good time what with the new February goals being discussed. I've decided for me healthy lifestyle goals I am going to
1. Make healthy food choices at every meal
2. Exercise at least 3 times a week - NO EXCUSES. This can be a walk by the river, a run/jog, the bike at the gym, the crosstrainer or my yoga DVD
and I've also decided that's starting as of first thing tomorrow - being as it's almost time for bed here now :) My first day will be a challenge in itself because I'm going to be going out for a meal with friends - time to start trying to each my salad and cooked veggies again me thinks - and stock up my good old fruit bowl.
My other goal which is slightly away from eating/exercise is to visit all your guys blogs once a week minimum. some of you noticed my blog is on a bit of a break - that's jsut because I'm so busy with univeristy work and planning lessons etc so I shall just post here for the time being.

Believe it or not, we have just 8 days left in our January Challenge! I am so proud of each and every one of you! This group has bonded together so amazingly well! I'm sorry for being distracted this past week and haven't been as great about following up with your blogs, but I'll catch up with everyone within the next few days. I do have a couple of updates (Jeannie's email and Manda's blog address) and will get those done today for sure.
Please start thinking if you'd like to continue on to the February Challenge or not. Whether you will join us or take a break, please let me know so I can make some notes. If you decide to skip February, I now ask for your permission to email you for future month's challenges. You can tell me at any time to stop emailing you and I'll honor your request :)
If you are joining me in February, please reply with your February goal. No need to stress ... as long as I have your goal by January 31st, we're good. We'll also accept new Challengers, so get the word out to all of your other blogging friends :)
You may want to start checking with your partner to discuss your January reward/gift. It's probably best to agree on a set dollar amount, and go from there. Don't send it until at least February 1st (this is more of a symbolic date, we're rewarding each other for our accomplishments in January), but make sure it arrives in time for Valentine's Day. If you have a partner that lives outside of your home country, start checking with your postal service on delivery times - you may need to send it before the end of the month.
Also, if you have any suggestions or comments, or just plain feedback about our January Challenge, procedures, out blog, etc, please let me know. There's always room for improvement, and I'm more than willing to make changes :)
Take care everyone! Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Challengers,
I have just been catching up on how everyone has been doing and it is so encouraging to read that you are all getting on so well.
I have been moving countries between Christmas and New Year from Dubai back to Ireland and have not had internet access until now but I have been doing my challenge faithfully.
My challenge for January is to:-
1. Drink more water
2. Have breakfast (for the first time in my life) and ...
3. Count Calories to lose weight
I have to say that so far I am doing great! Have lost 7 pounds to date. I feel much healthier and less tired and lazy. I could never have done it without Michelle challenging me! I am always up for a challenge, so thank you Michelle I get the feeling you are the instigater in changing my life!
I feel that I have missed out in supporting you all and getting to know you all and your individual challenges but plan on getting stuck in and supporting you all as much as I can. I plan on keeping my other blogging friends updated on my blog MY BLOG
Will post more in the next few days but hang in there everyone - you are all doing fantastic!
Together we can do it.

Hi All! I have been meaning to post and introduce myself for ages, but I have so much going on at the moment... new job which is only temp, heaps of interviews, studying, paying attention to my boyfriend (fiance, whatever), and trying - TRYING - to do some exercise!
So here I am - my name is Amanda, I'm 26 (27 in a few weeks), live in Sydney Australia, just got engaged over Christmas, have been chubby my whole life. Highest weight was 88.5kg about 3 years ago. Lowest was 74kg 2 and a half years ago, and am now back up to 86kg!
I have no choice but to lose the weight this time - and no, not for the wedding. To be honest I dont think thats a major motivator for me, as we have been together for 5 years already, so a wedding is just a formality. Besides, I'm not a very girly-girl (well I am, actually) but I dont dream about being a fairy princess on my wedding day, so thats not such a big deal.
No, my motivation is that I want to quit my job and work from home. I have a year to get myself prepared (promised I would retire on my 28th birthday). I am studying to be a beautician and make up artist, and I have recently decided that I want to be a personal trainer too! I can make people over in more ways than one!
In order to be a good PT I have to look the part, and thats where the weight loss comes in. I will be my own first success story :)
I think thats enough of an intro - you can follow my adventures here: www.missm.org/challenge
I separated my challenge blog from my regular one so I can keep it a little more private. Feel free to comment on both blogs, but please dont mention weight stuff on the main one :)
Cheers
Amanda

Photos are up here from my open casting call this morning for the Biggest Loser Season 4! Oddly enough, I stood in line for 4 hours in the below freezing temps, and it was one of the coolest things I've ever done - no pun intended!

I wanna be America's next Biggest Loser!!
